By AccessWDUN Staff

JEFFERSON — Jefferson held Madison County to just 18 total yards in taking a dominating 49-6 win in both teams’ Region 8-4A finales at Memorial Stadium.

The win was a welcome rebound for the Dragons (9-1, 5-1 Region 8-4A) who were coming off a rough 11-6 loss to North Oconee last week for the region title.

Jefferson piled up 287 yards on the ground as eight different players had at least 18 yards on multiple carries. Kadin Bailey led the way with 63 yards and 1 touchdown on just 2 carries while Xavier Minish had 53 yards on 4 carries. Tre Reece added 45 yards on 5 carries while Malaki Starks had just 21 yards on 4 carries but scored twice.

Starks also had a 30-yard interception return for a touchdown just 14 seconds after Jordan Perry had scored on a 6-yard touchdown run to open the open quarter. Jefferson led 42-0 by halftime.

The Dragons will take on Hapeville Charter at home next week in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.
