LEESBURG — Class 6A defending champion Buford went on the road and beat Area 1-6A champion Lee County 3-1 in the quarterfinals of the 2021 volleyball playoffs on Wednesday.
The Lady Wolves next will take on Pope on Saturday in the semifinals at the LakePoint Sports Complex in Cartersville.
In other action on Wednesday, Area 8-2A/A-Public champion Union County also moved into the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Dade County in Blairsville. The Lady Panthers next will take on defending state champion Pace Academy on Saturday also at LakePoint.
In Class 4A, Flowery Branch advanced to the semifinals with a 3-0 win over Pickens at home. The Lady Falcons were one of three Area 8-4A teams in the quarterfinals.
Area 8-4A champ Jefferson, however, was knocked out in a 3-0 loss to Fayette County in Fayetteville while Chestatee, the No. 3 seed from 8-4A, dropped a 3-0 match to Northwest Whitfield on the road.
Flowery Branch and Northwest Whitfield will meet on Saturday for a spot in the finals.
The finals for all classifications will be held on Nov. 6 at LakePoint.
