Another threatening message about a Gwinnett County High School has authorities teaming up and on high alert. This is the second such message received in less than a week; this time it threatens a school in Suwanee.
Gwinnett County Police released a message which appears to be from a student who says they will “shoot up” Collins Hill High School tomorrow, Wednesday, October 27. While it’s unclear where, or from whom, the message originated, the author names a time, the place, and even the type of gun used. The message goes so far as to say, “this is not a hoax.”
Last Thursday, another threat was made towards Mill Creek High School in Hoschton. It does not appear anything ever evolved from that warning, but authorities were quick to take it seriously.
According to the Gwinnett County Police, they are working with local authorities to investigate any concerns, such as this one. “In light of a recent increase in harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence against our schools, the Gwinnett Police Department is working with the Gwinnett County School Police to respond and investigate each case.” This statement came from a Facebook post earlier today.
The post added that many of the threats are anonymous and turn out to be hoaxes, but anyone found guilty of making such a message will be punished. “Threats and crimes committed upon school grounds against students or school personnel are enforced with more substantial penalties and include incarceration time,” added the Gwinnett Police Department.
