LAWRENCEVILLE — Habersham Central snapped a five-game losing streak with a 20-0 win over Central Gwinnett on Friday on the road.
The Raiders (3-6, 1-4 Region 8-6A) held the Black Knights (1-8, 0-5 Region 8-6A) to just 158 total yards and pitched their first shutout since beating Douglas County 350 in the first round of the 2018 playoffs.
Freshman Zeke Whittington scored twice for Habersham Central, getting a 5-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and hauling in a 27-yard touchdown pass from Carson Parker in the third quarter. Whittington finished with 61 yards receiving on 7 catches and added 34 yards on the ground.
Parker was 18-of-25 passing for 120 yards and added a 2-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter. Simarcus Burney had 88 yards rushing for the Raiders.
Habersham Central dominated the time of possession controlling the ball for over 31 minutes to less than 17 minutes for Central Gwinnett.
The Raiders will take next week off before closing out their season in two weeks at home against Shiloh.
