Football: Jefferson rolls past Chestatee, 41-7

GAINESVILLE — Jefferson continued its road to the region championship with a 41-7 win over Chestatee at the Lynn Cottrell Complex on Friday. 

The Dragons (8-0, 4-0 Region 8-4A) held Chestatee (3-5, 1-3 Region 8-4A) to 113 total yards of offense -- minus-two yards rushing. 

Jefferson exploded for 34 points in the first quarter -- 27 points in a five-minute span. 

Tre Reece started the scoring on a 10-yard run with 9:05 to go in the opening period. Less than two minutes later, Reese Johnson scampered in from 12 yards out to go up. 14-0. Reece scored again two minutes later on a 58-yard run, and Jordan Perry broke off a 20-yard run for a score and a 27-0 lead. 

Isaiah Copeland capped the Dragons' first-quarter score with a 19-yard run with 15 seconds remaining. 

Kadin Bailey added the Dragons' final touchdown with 5:41 to go in the first half on a 29-yard run. 

Luke Bornhorst scored the War Eagles' lone touchdown with 3:32 to go in the fourth quarter on a six-yard run. 

Perry led the Dragons with 87 yards on five carries, while Tre Reece added 76 yards on four carries, and Reese Johnson had 12 carries for 75 yards. 

Bornhorst was 9-of-20 for 115 yards.
