FLOWERY BRANCH — Cherokee Bluff scored 41 unanswered points en route to a 55-8 blowout win over Lumpkin County on Friday at home.

Jayquan Smith led the Bears (7-0, 3-0 Region 7-3A) with 166 yards on six rushes and two touchdowns.

Bluff's churned out 331 yards on the ground and led 48-8 at halftime.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Irons tossed three touchdowns -- a 9-yard and a 39-yard to Marlion Jackson and an 18-yard pass to Max Eubanks -- and was 6-of-8 passing for 85 yards.

Irons also jump-started the Bears scoring when he found Jackson on a 9-yard scoring pass with 7:26 to go in the opening quarter. Then added their second score on a Hulsey 12-yard fumble return for a touchdown two minutes later, 14-0.

Lumpkin County (2-5, 1-2 Region 7-3A) cut the lead in half on the ensuing drive with a Will Wood 80-yard run with 5:40 on the first-quarter clock.

After that, it was all Cherokee Bluff. Smith reeled off a 46-yard touchdown run, Irons hit Jackson on a 39-yard pass and Eubanks on an 18-yard toss, Brayden Nance broke loose on a 27-yard run for pay dirt, and Smith scored again on a 53-yard run to cap the first-half scoring with 5:18 to go.
