GAINESVILLE — The Area 7-3A volleyball tournament got under way on Wednesday at North Hall and after a long night of action, the four playoff teams were determined.
Host North Hall opened the tournament with a pair of wins Wednesday night at the North Hall gym. Lumpkin County, Cherokee Bluff, and White County also are all still alive and qualified for the playoffs.
The Lady Trojans knocked off newcomer East Forsyth in straight sets, 25-7 and 25-14, and then rallied from a set down to beat Cherokee Bluff 20-25, 26-24 and 15-10 in a tight match throughout.
Lexie Martin had 31 assists, 6 kills, and 6 aces, including a 9-point service run for North Hall. Claire Bowen had 12 kills and 2 blocks, Gavyn Graber had 12 kills and 3 aces, and Amelia Shoemaker had 11 kills for the Lady Trojans.
AnnaKate Shoaf had 21 digs and 2 aces, Karsyn Savage had 4 aces, Sarah Davidson had 4 kills and 1 block, and Carly Bowen had 10 digs for North Hall.
The Area Tournament will get back under way on Thursday at North Hall.
Gilmer, East Forsyth, Dawson County, and West Hall all were eliminated on Wednesday.
