Series of accidents jams I-85 in Jackson County Tuesday

A series of four vehicle crashes jammed I-85 in Jackson County for hours on Tuesday, but the Georgia State Patrol reported only minor injuries. 

Troopers from Post 32 in Athens were called to assist the Jackson County Sheriff's Office and the Braselton Police Department with the crash investigations.

All of the accidents happened in the southbound lanes of the interstate, according to information released by GSP Post 32.

Troopers investigated the following incidents:

  • A three-vehicle crash with one injury and road blockage at I-85 southbound near Mile Marker 132
  • A two-vehicle crash involving a jack-knifed tractor-trailer with no injuries and road blockage at Interstate 85 southbound near Mile Marker 132
  • A three-vehicle crash involving commercial vehicles with one injury and road blockage at  I-85 southbound near Mile Marker 130

A four-vehicle commercial motor vehicle crash with no injuries and road blockage at I-85 southbound near Mile Marker 130. 

One of the two people injured was transported to the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment, but the injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
