South Carolina man arrested in Forsyth County for drugs and stolen vehicle

A South Carolina man was arrested in Forsyth County last week after stealing a car and being found with various types of drugs.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is just now releasing details. They are also praising the efforts of concerned citizens who alerted authorities to the suspicious behavior on the night of January 14, 2021.

Employees of a Publix alerted authorities to a man who said his car was not working and he needed a warm place to stay. Officers located the man at a nearby BP Gas Station on Matt Highway. The man, identified as Chantz Galloway, 26 of Easley, SC, was found with a vehicle that had been stolen earlier that day out of Atlanta. 

According to a Facebook post from the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, during a search of the vehicle, deputies found a firearm, heroin, 38 oxycodone pills, along with digital scales and numerous plastic bags. 

Gallaway was arrested and charged with Theft by Receiving Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession of Heroin with Intent to Distribute, Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Drug Related Objects.

Galloway is being held without bond in the Forsyth County Jail.
