Hall county woman kidnapped, Auburn man charged

A woman kidnapped at gunpoint from her Hall County home Wednesday afternoon was able to escape and call for help. Around 1:20 p.m. Hall County deputies arrived to her home on Highland Terrace, off of Atlanta Highway.

The woman, whose name has not been released, told authorities that she arrived to her home earlier that day to find Moises David Peguero in her driveway. “Peguero loaded a handgun in the victim’s presence, chambered a round of ammunition and forced the victim into his vehicle at gunpoint,” says Derrek Booth of the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. According to Booth, the two had previously been in a relationship.

The man assaulted the woman – grabbing her hair and one of her legs – to prevent her from getting out of the car. He drove her around for a while and then returned to her house. It was at that point that she was able to escape and call for help.

Investigators quickly gathered the story and put out an alert to surrounding law enforcement agencies. It was discovered that Peguero has a current address in Barrow County. Deputies in that county were able to track him down and take him into custody. He was turned over to the Hall County Sheriff’s Department and he is currently in the Hall County jail.

Peguero, 33, is charged with aggravated assault and kidnapping, both are felony counts.

The case remains under investigation.
