Gainesville Food Truck Friday series to end Friday

By Regan Spinks

Lake Lanier Olympic Park will host its last Food Truck Friday of the year Friday, Sept. 25.

Food trucks will be at the park from 5-9 p.m. and will feature cuisine from a variety of local eateries, including Atlas Pizza, Kajun Asian, All Around the World, Cheese Louise, Bill’s Grills on Wheels, Tap It Growlers, Downtown Drafts, Fairly Local Cupcakes, Juke N Jive Creamery and Frozen Frenzee. Singer-songwriter April Rooks will perform on the lower plaza from 6-9 p.m.

In addition, the Georgia Mountain Food Bank will be present to collect both monetary donations and non-perishable food items. Other vendors will include the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 17 (Gainesville-Hall County), Lake Lanier Rowing Club and the Gainesville Convention & Visitors Bureau, which will have Food Truck Friday T-shirts, Gainesville picnic blankets and other items available for purchase.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, attendees will be encouraged to wear face masks and frequently use hand sanitizer. In addition, tables and sanitation stations will be spread throughout the venue to encourage social distancing.

“Despite challenges brought on by COVID-19, we’re thrilled to say the 2020 Food Truck Friday series has been well attended and successful, to say the least,” said Lake Lanier Olympic Park Special Events Manager Eric Larsen in a statement Monday. “We appreciate those who have turned out – attendees and vendors – and applaud them for joining us in the fight against COVID-19 by wearing masks and face coverings, social distancing and practicing good hygiene. Although we’re grateful for the time we’ve had with the community this summer, we hope 2021 looks much different, but in the best way possible.”

For those with further health and safety concerns, private lakeside seating is available on a limited basis. A $35 reservation includes a table on the grandstands with seating for six. Click here to make a reservation.
