Hall planners recommend approval for Shirley Road lakefront homes

By Caleb Hutchins Assistant News Director

A lakefront home development on more than 50 acres of land on Shirley Road in north Hall County was recommended for approval by the county planning commission Monday.

The developer, Sosewood Property Group, LLC, is looking to build 15 lakefront homes on the property with each sitting on three and a half acre lots. The property is on the south side of Shirley Road between Crooked Creek Road and Destitute Way.

Bradley Dunkel of Rochester and Associates told planning commissioners Monday that the property would be accessible by two common driveways with very little of the development being visible from Shirley Road.

"I don't think any home will be built on the Shirley Road side of that common driveway," Dunkel said. "Because of the topography, we think most of them will be located probably within a reasonable setback from the Corps line."

The project, if approved, would rezone the property from Agricultural-Residential and Vacation Cottage to Planned Residential Development.

No one spoke against the development and the planning commission recommended approval unanimously. The Hall County Commission will make the final decision on the project. Their next meeting is October 8.
