Casey Roberts sweeps weekend with Rome SLM victory

By Jeff Smith

Casey Roberts went two-for-two on the Labor Day holiday weekend by scoring the Super Late Model feature win on Sunday night at Georgia’s Rome Speedway.

The Toccoa, Georgia speedster took the lead from pole sitter Jason Croft on the drop of the green flag at the half-mile clay raceway, and went on to record his second win of the weekend after winning Saturday night at Dixie Speedway.

Austin Smith finished in second, with Sam Seawright in third, Croft in fourth and Dalton Cook in fifth.

In other action, Rucker Orr held off Ronnnie Johnson for the Steelhead Late Model feature win. Johnson in turn held off Oliver Gentry, who finished in third, with Marty Lunsford in fourth and Andy Morris in fifth.

Logan Palmer took a big lead in the Crate Late Model feature to get his second win of the weekend. Blant Duke followed in second ahead off Matthew Wyatt in third, Tanner Collin in fourth, and Colton Jackson in fifth.

Dink McKeehan led the way in the second Sportsman feature as he outdistanced Jay Cromer for the win. Josh Walker, Kyle Beck, and Bron Rutledge rounded out the top five.
