State extends deadline to appeal property assessments

By AccessWDUN Staff
Per a statewide judicial order, the Georgia Department of Revenue will allow property owners the chance to appeal their property assessments through Aug. 27.

Hall County officials issued a statement Friday saying the county has already submitted its tax digest and received the subsequent collection order from the Department of Revenue for the fiscal year. That means Hall County's operations, which are grandfathered in, will not be impacted when it comes to the mailing of property tax bills later this year.

"Due to the pandemic, we continue to encourage anyone appealing a property assessment to do so electronically. Instructions for using this convenient option can be found on the Hall County Tax Assessor's webpage," said Steve Watson, Chief Appraiser.

Watson said any property owner who has questions may email the Tax Assessor's Office at [email protected] or call 770-531-6720.
