Greater Hall Chamber cancels annual meeting, opts for virtual awards ceremony

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce (GHCC) will forego its annual meeting and gala this year for a more subdued celebration in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Chamber officials made the announcement Friday afternoon, saying the Sept. 10 event had been canceled. The gala would have been the 112th annual celebration.

While the larger gala will not be held, GHCC leaders said plans are in the works for a virtual Celebration & Awards Meeting for early October. The celebration event will be conducted by Greater Hall Chamber Chairman of the Board Brian Rochester of Rochester & Associates and Kit Dunlap, President & CEO of the Chamber.

"During this season of challenges, the Greater Hall Chamber of Commerce remains dedicated to supporting an aggressive business environment and making a positive contribution to the community by serving as a resource for information and a voice for business," a published statement from the Chamber said. "The Chamber continues to provide leadership and programs to help businesses thrive and citizens enjoy a spectacular quality of life."

The virtual event will include an overview of the year’s business successes and announcements of the 2019-2020 Business Awards including Small and Family Businesses of the Year, Community Service Award, Distinguished Citizen Award, W.G. Mealor Chairman’s Award and Silver Shovel Awards.

A date and time for the event will be announced in the near future.
