RABBITTOWN — The North Hall girls volleyball team opened its 2020 season with a dominating sweep of Rabun County and East Hall Tuesday at the East Hall gym.
The Lady Trojans whipped Rabun County 25-8 and 25-12 in a sweep and then knocked off the Lady Vikings 25- and 25-12 to complete the sweep.
Lexie Martin paced North Hall with 15 assists, 5 aces, 3 kills, and 8 digs. Mary Hays Williams had 9 kills, 3 aces, 5 blocks, Karsyn Savage had 6 kills and 4 aces, and Sarah Davidson added 5 kills, 3 aces, and 2 blocks for the Lady Trojans.
Claire Bowen had 4 kills, AnnaKate Shoaf had 6 aces and 4 digs, and Victoria Cape had 5 assists for the Lady Trojans.
North Hall next will play host to Gainesville and Banks County on Thursday in a tri-match.
JEFFERSON SWEEPS, GAINESVILLE SPLITS
Jefferson opened its season in dramatic fashion rallying in both matches to beat Gainesville and Cherokee Bluff in three sets.
The Lady Dragons opened with a 13-25, 25-21, 15-5 win over Gainesville and then holding off the Lady Bears 16-25, 25-19, 15-10.
Gainesville, meanwhile, after falling to Jefferson, rebounded to take a tight three-set win over Cherokee Bluff 23-25, 28-26, 17-15 in the second match.
Ansley Turner led Gainesville with 16 kills, 3 aces, and 10 digs. Isabella Garrish added 3 kills, 24 assists, and 4 digs, Lauren Teasley had 8 kills and 7 blocks, and Kendal Glasper pitched in 3 kills and 8 blocks for the Lady Red Elephants.
Gainesville next will travel to North Hall on Thursday for a tri-match.
BUFORD SWEEPS OPENER
The Lady Wolves opened their season with a sweep of Class A Hebron Christian and Class A Mill Creek Tuesday.
Buford beat Hebron 25-16 and 25-22 and then took down Mill Creek 25-15 and 25-14.
