Young Harris College students move back to campus this week

By AccessWDUN Staff

Residential students at Young Harris College in Towns County will move back to campus for the fall semester the week of Aug. 10.

Even though students will be moving in, though, the public will not have access to the campus because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The following rules are currently in place for any campus visitor:

  1. Campus visitors must have an appointment with the department they wish to visit.
  2. If granted an appointment, campus visitors must wear cloth face coverings and participate in screening, including temperature checks and health questionnaires.
  3. Visitors who arrive on campus without an appointment will be told to leave.

Information recently released by the college said all campus buildings and grounds, including athletic facilities and practice fields, will remain closed to the public. The only exception will be the walking trail on the backside of campus. While the public may use the walking trail, social distancing will be enforced, and the college may limit access to certain portions of the trail when student activities are in process.

Fall semester classes are scheduled to begin Monday, Aug. 17.

All reopening plans for Young Harris College can be found on the college’s COVID-19 Resource Page.

Young Harris College, founded in 1886, is a private baccalaureate and master’s degree-granting institution. More than 1,400 students are enrolled in its residential and Early College programs.
