Early voting begins Monday for Aug. 11 runoff

By AccessWDUN Staff

The three-week early voting period for the Aug. 11 runoff elections begins Monday, July 20.

Hall County voters who choose to cast an early ballot will see some changes, according to the Hall County Board of Elections and Registration.

There will be no early voting this time at Gainesville Exploration Academy, which was used as an advance voting site for the primary in June. There also will be no early voting at the Hall County Government Center.

Voters will be able to cast their early ballots at one of four locations in Hall County.

  • East Hall Community Center
  • North Hall Community Center
  • Spout Springs Library
  • Brenau Downtown Center

Voting will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, from July 20 through Aug. 7.

Poll workers will continue to practice health safety measures as outlined by the CDC, the State of Georgia and the White House.

Voters will need to use their assigned precincts if they wish to vote on Election Day, Aug. 11.

Elections Director Lori Wurtz also said the Secretary of State's office did not do a blanket mailing of absentee ballot applications for this election cycle.

"The Secretary of State has only mailed ballots to ’rollover’ voters who selected that they are 65 or older or disabled and would like to receive their ballots automatically," Wurtz said. "All others who wish to vote by mail must complete a new application."

Wurtz also said the ballot drop box that was placed outside the Hall County Government Center during the most recent primary election will remain in that location for voters who wish to drop their absentee ballot off rather than mail it in.
