Annual free Chick-fil-A sandwich promotion postponed for summer 2020

For the past 15 years, Chick-fil-A has handed out chicken sandwiches to those who have stopped by their restaurants dressed like their cow mascot for the annual "Cow Appreciation Day."

But with the COVID-19 pandemic continuing from the spring, well into the summer months and quickly creeping into autumn, officials with the Atlanta-based fried chicken restaurant have announced the promotion is postponed.

"This year, we have decided to postpone the annual holiday in honor of our beloved bovines," a post on the Chick-fil-A website reads. "We made this decision with the communities we serve in mind, keeping Safe Service as our highest priority at this time."

Typically, customers in their best cow costumes could come inside their local Chik-fil-A on the designated day and receive the promotional sandwich. Since dining rooms are closed at the chain currently, officials posted "cow appreciation" activities to fill the time until the promotion returns.

On a brighter note, customers craving a Peach Milkshake will be pleased to know the cool favorite returned on June 29.
