Cornelia fireworks sales benefit VFW Post 7720 that suffered fire

CORNELIA – Grant Reeves Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7720 in Cornelia endured a lot of challenges during the first half of 2020.

The Coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of Bingo, the post’s largest ongoing charity, as well as parades and other community events that raised awareness of the VFW and its mission.

Then, last month, the post suffered an accidental fire that resulted in extensive smoke damage throughout the building that serves as home for the post and other veterans’ organizations.

For the past couple of weeks, Post 7720 has been operating a fireworks stand in front of Goodwill on Habersham Hills Circle in Cornelia to help with some of the post’s financial needs.

That stand will operate until midnight Saturday, July 4, or until sold out.

For those unable to support the post through fireworks sales, donations may be made to VFW Post 7720, 423 VFW Post Road, Cornelia.
