Masked woman robs store on Atlanta Highway

By AccessWDUN staff

A woman stole items from a Family Dollar store Sunday morning after spraying an employee with what was believed to be pepper spray, Gainesville police said.

The woman, who was wearing a face mask, similar to a surgical mask, was observed placing items into a plastic tote at the Family Dollar store in the 400 block of Atlanta Highway. She walked out of the store without paying for the items. When the employee approached the woman, the suspect sprayed the employee. The incident happened around 9 a.m. Sunday.

The suspect left with an accomplice in an unknown vehicle and is being sought. Gainesville police said the investigation is ongoing, and they hope to have additional information later.
