HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — Spencer Ralston did not look intimidated Thursday in making his first-ever start on the PGA Tour.

The Gainesville native and University of Georgia standout fired a 2-under par 69 on the opening round of the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links. Ralston was particularly strong down the stretch with a pair of birdies over the final four holes to pull into a tie for 45th with the likes of Bubba Watson and Zach Johnson.

After a pair of pars to open his round, Ralston bogeyed the Par 4 3rd but answered with a birdie on No. 4. He then birdied Nos. 8 and 9 to get to 2-under before bogeys on Nos. 10 and 14 dropped him back to even par. He finished with birdies on No. 15 and No. 17.

Ralston will tee off at 8:57 a.m. in Friday's second round. The top 60 players, includiing ties, will be looking to make the cut in the 151-man field.
