Two Cleveland residents arrested for White County assault

By Dean Dyer, WRWH

Two suspects have been charged in an aggravated assault that happened earlier this month at a location in White County.

White County Sheriff’s Captain Clay Hammond said deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Tom Teague Road on May 4, 2020, where they met with the victim. The victim told deputies he had been summoned to an address on Post Road by Aleshia Liby, 28, of Cleveland.

Once there, the victim was assaulted by a second suspect, identified as Johnathan Wills, 29, of Cleveland.

Two days after the alleged assault, investigators executed a search warrant at the Post Road residence and found enough evidence to arrest Wills. He was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of certain crimes and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Hammond said Liby was arrested last Thursday and charged with party to the crime of aggravated assault. Liby remained in jail on Thursday morning, May 28.

Investigators did not indicate what motivated the reported assault.
