Dale McDowell drives to SAS victory at Thunderhill

By Series PR

SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. - After an 83 day layoff due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series returned to action on Saturday night at Thunderhill Raceway in Summertown, Tennessee.

Dale McDowell proved that the time off hasn’t slowed him down. The Chickamauga, Georgia racer scored the win in the 50 lap feature at the 1/3-mile clay speedway.

The win keeps McDowell perfect in 2020 in series action after winning the season opener in March at Cherokee Speedway.

And just as he did at Cherokee, McDowell set fast time in qualifying and led every lap en route to the win.

Behind the leader, Jason Hiett and Tyler Millwood battled back and forth for the runner-up spot for the majority of the race, with Hiett coming away with second place in the end.

Millwood had to settle for a third place finish, with Dawsonville, Georgia’s Donald McIntosh finished fourth, with Sam Seawright in fifth.

Chad Thrash, Jay Scott, Riley Hickman, Caleb Ashby and Eric Hickerson rounded out the top 10.
