Hall County Animal Control officials said they received confirmation Thursday, May 21 that a rabid raccoon was found on Forrester Road in the northern part of the county.
The animal had contact with a dog in the area. The raccoon was shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab- Virology Section in Decatur. Positive alert signs will be posted in the area where the rabid raccoon was located. This is the fifth confirmed case of rabies for 2020.
Animal owners are encouraged to vaccinate their domesticated pets for rabies.
