Fourth rabies case in Hall County in 2020 confirmed

Two dogs made contact with a rabid raccoon recently in the Flowery Branch area.

Hall County Animal Control said in a press release that they were advised Monday the raccoon had tested positive for the disease.

This marks the fourth confirmed case of rabies in the county in 2020.

The initial incident occurred in 4500 block of JM Turk Road, according to the release. The raccoon was euthanized and shipped to the Georgia Public Health Lab in Decatur. As is typical in rabies cases, positive alert signs will be posted in the area and nearby residents are encouraged to contact Animal Services of Hall County Dispatch if they see an animal acting abnormally.
