More than 20 northeast Georgia athletes were recognized by Positive Athlete Georgia on Friday.
Positive Athlete has awarded more than $350,000 in college scholarships to high school athletes across the country over the last seven years.
Student-athletes are nominated by parents, coaches, teachers, administrators. West Hall was honored as the most positive school while Banks County softball coach Kelby Chronic and Dawson County football coach Greg Baloga were named best coaches.
"We are looking for athletes who have overcome difficult circumstances, given back to their schools and communities, or just have an infectious positive attitude," stated the Positive Athlete website.
Athletes are now entered into the national scholarship contest.
Winners from eight regions across the state were recognized with Northeast Georgia and east Atlanta regions represent the AccessWDUN coverage area.
