Local law enforcement host drive-by parade for staff at Northeast Georgia Medical Center

Several local law enforcement entities came together to host a drive-by parade for healthcare staff Thursday at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The parade included vehicles from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Gainesville Police Department and Georgia State Patrol.

The drive-by took place at the North Tower of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Healthcare staff stood outside the front doors and waved to drivers as they passed.

Many law enforcement personnel called out to the healthcare staff to thank them for their work.

“We wanted to show some appreciation to our medical professionals,” said Lieutenant Greg Cochran with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. “We feel that the people at the Northeast Georgia Medical Center and other medical professionals throughout are sometimes underrecognized.”

Cochran said the parade is one example of how the community is coming together during the pandemic.

“It’s amazing when I see every professional giving credit to other professionals,” said Cochran. “Everybody is really recognizing what everyone is going through.”

Cochran also hinted that the parade might happen again. A video of Thursday’s parade is available above.
