2020 Region RunDown Series: 6-7A football

By Jeff Hart Sports Reporter

The newest series on AccessWDUN, our 2020 region rundown webcast, will look at each region involving northeast Georgia area teams as we, hopefully, begin preparations for the upcoming 2020-21 sports season.

We will start with football, looking at each region beginning with Class 7A, and in particular, Region 6-7A, which will house Gainesville along with every Forsyth County school, except newcomer East Forsyth. Gainesville moved up from Class 6A last year. We will work our way down the Class A Private and Public and every classification in between.

Our debut webcast features Gainesville football coach Heath Webb, who joins Friday Game Night to talk about the upcoming 2020 season and just what is in store for the Red Elephants in the state's largest classification. Gainesville is coming off an improved season (6-5, first-round playoffs in Class 6A) in a very tough Region 8-6A.

Webb offered his insights into a revamped Region 6-7A that saw Milton move out but add the Red Elephants and Denmark. Webb expects the Red Elephants to be more than just competitive in what is expected to be a balanced region that could go down to the final minute of the final game to determine the four playoff teams.
