By AccessWDUN Staff

A Gainesville man was killed Tuesday morning when his passenger vehicle was struck by a pick-up truck that crossed the center lane of Georgia Highway 53 in Dawson County.

Troopers from the Georgia State Patrol post in Cumming were called to the scene of the accident around 9 a.m.

Investigators said James White, 41, of Dawsonville was traveling eastbound on GA 53 trying to negotiate a right curve just east of Georgia Highway 183, also known as Elliott Family Parkway.

White's Dodge Ram crossed the center line and traveled into the westbound lane, striking a Ford Focus being driven by Tyler Fried, 33, of Gainesville.

Troopers said after the impact, the Dodge Ram overturned onto its top. White was transported to an area hospital with visible injuries. Fried was killed in the collision.

The Georgia State Patrol is expected to file charges against White.
