Seven displaced after Hall Co. firefighters battle two separate house fires

By Bryan Pirkle Reporter

Seven people were displaced by a mobile home fire in northwestern Hall County early Wednesday evening, the second event of the day for county firefighters.

Crews were dispatched to the home on Saddle Club Road around 6:30 p.m., where Hall County Fire Services Division Chief Zachary Brackett says they found the single-wide residence roughly 50% involved with fire.

"We did a very aggressive attack and had it knocked down fairly quickly," he said. "But as a result of that we did have 3 adults and 4 children who were displaced."

Brackett said the American Red Cross was contacted and is now providing assistance to the victims.

On Thursday morning, Brackett said investigators determined the fire started when a candle was left unattended.

The Saddle Club fire was actually the second of the day that was handled by Hall County crews.

The first fire broke out at a building on Old Athens Road, just a few block from U.S. 129.

"The first one came in just after 1:00 [p.m.]," Brackett said. "Units found a 1,000 square-foot home fully involved."

A defensive attack was utilized to extinguish fire, and no individuals were said to be displaced.

Brackett said the cause of that fire is also unknown, and currently under investigation.

No injuries were reported in either fire.
