Gov. Brian Kemp and other state and local officials will participate in a primetime town hall event on Thursday to address the nation’s growing coronavirus pandemic.

The hour-long event will begin at 8 p.m. and will be carried live on WDUN AM/FM and The Lake AM/FM. A livestream of the event will be available on AccessWDUN.

“This is an exciting opportunity for broadcasters around the state to do what we do best, serve the members of our communities in times of emergencies,’ Bob Houghton, president of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters, said.

Besides Kemp, the broadcast will also include Dr. Kathleen Toomey, commissioner of the Department of Public Health; Homer Bryson, director of the Georgia Emergency Management Agency; and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Each participant will be a different Atlanta television station in order to help reduce the crowds at any one station. Other members of Kemp’s coronavirus task force are expected to participate.

Univision Atlanta will carry the event with a Spanish translation.
