Report: Falcons aquire TE Hurst from the Ravens

By AccessWDUN Staff

The Atlanta Falcons have reportedly acquired tight end Hayden Hurst from the Baltimore Ravens, per The Associated Press on Monday as NFL free agency continues through the coronavirus pandemic.

The person with the information spoke to the AP on a condition of anonymity because the trade won't be officially announced before the NFL's business year begins on Wednesday.

ESPN's Adam Schefter also is reporting the deal in which the Falcons will also acquire a 2020 fourth-round pick from the Ravens, and Baltimore will receive second and fifth-round picks in this year's draft from the Falcons.

The news comes a few hours after the Falcons lost two-time free-agent Pro Bowler Austin Hooper to the Cleveland Browns.  Hurst is some much-needed help to the Falcons after they cut backup tight end Luke Stocker on Monday to clear up more cap space. Atlanta also cut offensive tackle Ty Sambrailo and will release running back Devonta Freeman and cornerback Desmond Trufant.

Last season, Hurst, the No. 25 overall pick in the 2018 draft from South Carolina, started on four times and played in 16 games, finishing with 30 catches for 349 yards and two touchdowns in two seasons with Baltimore.

Atlanta still has a second-round pick, No. 47 overall.
