A Gainesville man has been charged with child molestation in connection to a case from October 2019.

Hall County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Derreck Booth said 25-year-old Jorge Luis Gomez was arrested Thursday, March 12 following his release from incarceration in Atlanta.

Booth said according to an investigation, Gomez engaged in sexual acts with a 16-year-old victim.

"On October 14, 2019, Gomez engaged in sexual intercourse with a female victim under the age of 16 at his residence in the 5,000 blocks of Mountain Lake Terrace," Booth said.

According to authorities, investigators obtained a warrant for Gomez on Feb. 26, 2020.

Booth said the investigation began on October 14, 2019, when deputies responded to a report from a family member of the victim.

The case remains under investigation by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.
