Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity told 960 The Ref on Friday morning that spring football practice has been delayed.
The announcement comes a day after the NCAA decided to pull the plug on winter and spring sports championships amid concerns of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
McGarity told the Athens radio station that team practices will not take place over the next several weeks. Georgia's spring practice was slated to begin on Tuesday.
SEC commissioner Greg Sankey announced on Thursday that all sporting events are canceled until the end of the month but left the decision of spring football and spring sports practices would be the decision of each university. He did make the decision to stop all in-person recruiting as well.
The University System of Georgia suspended all classes for the next two weeks.
