Soggy grounds mean postponements for Senoia, USLMS

By Brandon Reed Reporter

While the rains finally rolled out of North Georgia on Thursday, the damage had already been done to a few racing programs set to open over the weekend.

With seven inches of rain having fallen around the Senoia, Georgia area in the previous 10 days, officials at Senoia Raceway didn’t feel they had enough time to get their 3/8-mile clay speedway in shape in time for their season opener on Saturday.

That led officials to call off Saturday’s event. Attention now turns to the next race on the track’s calendar, as Senoia Raceway will host the Schaeffer’s Oil Spring Nationals on Saturday, March 21. Info for the rescheduled date for the track’s official season opener will be released later this week. For more information, visit SenoiaRaceway.com.

To the north, the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series was set to open their 2020 season at North Georgia Speedway in Chatsworth, Georgia on Saturday.

But the persistent showers earlier in the week left the track and parking areas saturated, leading track and series officials to postpone the event to this Friday, March 13.
