White County wreck hurts 10, including six juveniles

More information is now available about the six children who were among 10 people injured in a three-vehicle wreck on Ga. 11/U.S. 129 in southern White County Saturday.

The wreck happened at 12:10 p.m. on Ga. 11/U.S. 129 northbound at Joe Turner Road, said Cpl. Joshua Hedden of Georgia State Patrol Post 6 in Gainesville.

A 2005 Toyota Scion X driven by Heather Morgan, 30, of Clermont was following too closely, causing it to strike a 2004 Kia Sedona van, driven by Samantha Loggins, 32, of Sauteee-Nacoochee, in the rear, Hedden said.
The van was stopped in the road for a truck in front of it to turn left.

After impact, the second vehicle (van) struck the rear of the stopped 2006 Toyota Tundra pickup truck driven by Gary Olsen, 53 of Cleveland, Hedden said.

Four passengers in Morgan’s Scion were juveniles. Owen Morgan, 14, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Paysley Morgan, 4, Jasper Morgan, 8, and Zaylei Morgan, 13, were injured and were transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Morgan suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment.

Loggins’ two passengers were juveniles. Ava Loggins, 2, was flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite. Eli Murphy, 6, was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center. Loggins suffered minor injuries and was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Olsen suffered minor injuries, as did his passenger, Tamera Olsen, 55, of Cleveland, but they were not transported, Hedden said.

Charges are still pending and will be given at a later date, Hedden said Tuesday.
