CUMMING —The Gainesville boys golf team opened its 2020 season with a solid showing at The Coal Mountain Classic at Hampton Golf Village.
The Red Elephants took a 5th place finish. West Forsyth, Dalton, South Forsyth and Lambert secured the top spots in the 22-team field.
North Hall, White County and Habersham Central also competed in the event.
Gainesville next will play on Saturday in the Lanier Invitational at Legacy on Lanier at Lake Lanier Islands.
