*Sugar Hill has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to “effective urban forest management.”  In order to qualify for the designation, the city had to meet the program’s four requirements: a tree board or department, a tree ordinance, an annual community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita as well as an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.

*Single lane closures are planned Tuesday, 9:00-3:00, in Barrow County on State Route 316 westbound under the State Route 81 overpass.  During this time, crews will be pouring the concrete driving surface of the overhead bridge, part of the construction of a “full diamond urban interchange” providing access to and from SR 316 at the intersection of SR 81.

*Single lane closures are also planned this week at the Browns Bridge construction site at the Hall-Forsyth county line.  They will be in place daily Monday through Friday 9:00-2:30 as work crews pour a concrete wall and offload steel bridge beams.

*Flowery Branch City Clerk Melissa McCain has been elected to serve as Vice President of the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association for 2020.  She was sworn in during the Annual Business Meeting on February 3 at Jekyll Island.
