Talmo woman arrested for stealing $215K from disabled man

By AccessWDUN Staff

A Talmo woman has been arrested and charged with stealing about $215,000 from a disabled Hall County man.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the 54-year-old victim reported the crime to authorities on Jan. 28, 2020, alleging Stephanie Elaine Moon had been taking the money from him for about a year.

"Moon, who oversaw the victim’s funds, refused him access to money for living expenses, according to the preliminary investigation," Booth said.

After investigators looked into the victim's claims, they obtained a warrant for Moon's arrest on Feb. 11 and arrested her on Feb. 12. Moon posted a bond of $16,700 on Thursday, Feb. 13.

Booth declined to discuss details of the victim's disability. He also did not give specific information on the relationship between the suspect and the victim, but he said Moon did not work for a company.
