By AccessWDUN staff

A minor earthquake was recorded early Sunday in Gwinnett County by the United States Geological Survey.

No injuries or damaged was reported from the 2.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred about 4:20 a.m. near Lilburn, the USGS reported.

The epicenter of the quake was just over a mile from Lilburn. It occurred 3.35 miles deep, the USGS said.

The USGS puts Georgia at a low-end risk when it comes to earthquake hazards. Since 1900, only about 240 earthquakes have occurred in Georgia, and most of them have been mild. The largest quake ever recorded in Georgia happened in 1916. It was a 4.1 magnitude earthquake that was centered about 30 miles from Atlanta.
