Latinos Conservative Organization hosts Operation Winter Coat Drive for local veterans

Throughout December, the Latinos Conservative Organization in Hall County is hosting Operation Winter Coat Drive to help and support local veterans.

Because of COVID-19, the drive will look a little different than in years past. Art Gallegos Jr., president of the organization, says they used to go out and pick items up and engage more with the community. This year, there is just a drop-off location.

“That doesn’t mean we’re not able to continue to serve our local veterans by collecting these items and making sure our veterans have something warm for Christmas,” Gallegos said.

Those who wish to donate can do so at 747 Queen City Pkwy. Suite B in Gainesville. The final day to donate is Dec. 23.

Gallegos said that, despite the name, they are accepting more than just coats. They are also accepting beanies, gloves and jackets.

“I think that one of the biggest gifts that God has given each one of us is the power of serving,” Gallegos said.
