Boys basketball: Johnson gets first win; Lakeview falls in region play

ATHENS — The Johnson boys got their first win of the season with a big 68-49 road victory Friday night.

The Knights (1-2) opened the game with a 14-7 first quarter and used an 18-10 third quarter to blow the game open.

Wade Pearce had a huge game with a double-double, pouring in 19 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Jackson Vandiver and Dayshun Summerour each added 12 points for Johnson. Jose Cabrerra chipped in with 9.

Athens Christian was paced Evan Ivestor with 13 points.

Johnson will travel to West Hall on Saturday.

The Lions could not overcome a slow start in dropping a Region 6-A Private matchup in Alpharetta Friday night.

Lakeview fell behind 20-5 after the first quarter but rallied to tie the game at 40 heading into the final period.

Declan Weidner paced Lakeview with with 15 points. Harrison Cooper and Isaac Marcero each had 12 points for the Lions.
