GAINESVILLE — The 61st annual Lanierland basketball tournament will be like none other.

COVID-19 protocols have forced several changes. The tournament is scheduled to be held December 28, 29, and 30 and the typical three-day format in single locations has been changed.

This year, the higher seeded team of each individual match up will play host to each game until the finals. Girls games will be played at 3 p.m. and boys games will be played at 7 p.m. each of the first two days. Both girls and boys championship games will be held at Gainesville High School with start times at 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively.

In their attempt to minimize the risk of COVID-19 exposure, all Hall County and Gainesville host gymnasiums will operate at 35 percent capacity. There will be no tickets sold at the gate. All ticket sales will be online.

All spectators at Hall County School District gymnasiums will undergo temperature checks before entering each facility. Additionally, all spectators at all host sites are required to wear a mask/face covering.

For tournament information, brackets, and ticket purchasing, go to the Lanierland basketball site.

If you have any questions, please contact the athletic director at your local Hall County high school.
