East Hall High School to transition to "blended learning" due to COVID-19 absences

Instruction for East Hall High School students will move to "blended learning" beginning Monday due to an increased number of student absences from COVID-19.

Hall County Schools spokesman Stan Lewis said ten students and one staff member have been absent from school within the last 36 hours due to positive cases of COVID-19. Out of concern of transmission of the virus, Lewis said the school will transition to blended learning.

During blended learning, students can access their classes through the CANVAS system and are expected to continue learning from home.

The number of students missing on-site instruction due to COVID-19 has increased significantly over the past 36 hours, according to the release. The high school will undergo a deep cleaning tomorrow.

School system officials anticipate that the “blended” learning will only continue for three days, through Wednesday, December 9. Parents will be notified by noon Wednesday if it is extended.

School buses will deliver meals to students along the East Hall High School bus routes once a day, Monday through Wednesday. Buses will start delivery between 9:00AM and 9:30AM.

Students can also pick meals up from East Hall High School from between 10:00AM and 11:00AM. Questions concerning meals are to be directed to school nutrition at 770-534-1080.
