AAA: Georgia gasoline prices tick upward in the past week

By AccessWDUN Staff

Georgia drivers found slightly higher prices at state gas pumps compared to a week ago, according to AAA-The Auto Club South.

Motorists are now paying an average price of $1.96 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline. Monday's state average is one penny more than a week ago, one penny less than last month, and 46-cents less than this time last year.

It now costs motorists $29.40 to fill a 15-gallon tank of gasoline; that is $11.70 less than what motorists paid in April of 2019, when pump prices hit their peak of $2.74 per gallon.

"Georgians who decided to hit the road for Thanksgiving found cheaper gas prices,” said AAA spokeswoman Montrae Waiters. “Despite the weekly increase, gas prices are more than likely to remain cheap through the end of the year.”

NATIONAL GAS AVERAGE

Since last Monday, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline has increased by one-cent to $2.12. In its latest report, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) measured demand, for the week ending November 13, at 8.2 million barrels a day. That is not only a weekly decrease but the lowest demand reading since mid-June. As demand dipped, U.S. gasoline stocks increased to nearly 228 million barrels. Americans can expect gas prices to continue to push less expensive heading into December.
