STATE CHAMPS! Chestatee boys capture 1st-ever cross country title

CARROLLTON — The Chestatee boys cross country team made school history on Friday.

The War Eagles dominated the field to win the Class 4A state championship at the State Meet Course. It was the first team championship for any Chestatee program, boys or girls, in its 19-year history.

Chestatee had all five counting runners place in the top 10, led by Luke Gaddis, who finished second overall in a time of 16:34.45. North Oconee's Davis Potts won the individual title with winning time of 16:16.66. The War Eagles finished with a miniscule 25 points. Marist was a distant second with 55 points.

In the team standings, Jefferson came in fourth with 127 points and Flowery Branch was fifth with 138 points giving Region 8-4A three of the top five finishing teams.

The War Eagles had four of the top six runners overall with Gavin Grater taking third, Johnathan Torres fourth, and Garrett Grater sixth. Javier Rebollar finished 10th for Chestatee.

Jefferson's Matthew Schroeder took ninth in the individual race. Jack Ramsey finished 19th as the top runner for Flowery Branch.
