Tree arrives at Gwinnett Historic Courthouse prior to virtual lighting

By AccessWDUN Staff

The traditional Christmas tree lighting will still take place in Gwinnett County this year, but it will look a little different because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

County officials say the 35-foot Norway spruce was delivered to the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse on Tuesday.

County staff will begin the decorating process, but the 33rd Annual Lighting of the Tree, which typically happens on Thanksgiving, will be done virtually. The ceremony will be recorded and then shown on the county's social media platforms, website and TV Gwinnett on Thanksgiving Day. The tree itself will be on display to the public on the courthouse grounds throughout the holiday season.

The Gwinnett Historic Courthouse is located on West Crogan Street in Lawrenceville.
