UNG cross country takes 2nd in PBC XC Preview

OAKWOOD — Sydney Bolyard finished as the lead Nighthawk as the University of North Georgia cross country team finished in second place in the Peach Belt XC Preview Saturday on the UNG Cross Country Course.

Bolyard ran a 18:28, her collegiate best, to finish in fourth in the 5K race, finishing seven seconds ahead of Karmen LeRoy in sixth place. Claire Mills (18:45, 8th) and Mariah Millsap (19:04, 10th) also finished in the top 10 in the race.

Flagler won the meet as a team with 32 points, just three points clear of North Georgia. Clayton State, Piedmont and Bryan rounded out the top five. Individually, Augusta's Mackenzie Taylor set a new course record with a time of 17:05, 1:13 clear of the rest of the field.

In the men's race, Flagler claimed each of the top six spots to win the event. The Saints' Marcus Graham set a new 8K course record with a 24:42.

The Nighthawks will have two weeks now to prepare for the Peach Belt Conference Championship on November 14 to be held on the Gainesville campus.
