JEFFERSON — Jackson County’s bid to stay in the upper-tier in Region 8-5A was denied by Loganville Friday night in a 47-7 loss at Panther Stadium.
Loganville’s Tanner Greene tossed five touchdown passes as the Red Devils (3-4, 2-2 Region 8-5A) jumped into a tie for fourth with the Panthers (3-4, 2-2 Region 8-5A) but now also hold the tiebreaker edge.
The Red Devils scored first and never trailed. Jackson County pulled within 14-7 in the waning seconds of the first half on a 22-yard TD pass from Isaiah Maxey to Bailey Hamm. That was set up by a 56-yard run from Tra Ransom.
But it was all Loganville in the second half. The Red Devils exploded for 33 unanswered points after halftime.
The Panthers next will travel to take on Eastside on Thursday in another ket region battle as they try to remain in the playoff race.
